  • We work with our 57 Funded Partners to find ways we can help strengthen struggling individuals and families living in Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union Counties.

    From gardening and painting to data entry and organizing, there is always a need for a willing volunteer to step in and brighten someone’s day!

  • We are always in need of volunteers to help us with filing papers as well as packing and delivering items to local residents in nursing homes and facilities in Columbia and Montour County through our Community Cares Volunteers.

    We also have opportunities to serve on our year-round advisory board committee to help us get our name and mission out into the community.

    We are specifically busy during the months of Oct-Dec when we are in need of volunteers for our Red Kettle and Angel Tree programs, but we can always use volunteers and businesses who are interested in giving their time at our smaller events throughout the year.

  • Seeking volunteers to help seniors fill out tax forms (year-round) and for our food program in Spring.

Donald Heiter Community Center

  • The Donald Heiter Community Center seeks sponsors to donate gifts to 155 children this holiday season. Gifts of toys, clothing, household items, school supplies, and more are sought.

Central Susquehanna Sight Services

DIG Furniture Bank

  • DIG Furniture Bank is open to anyone wishing to volunteer. There are pportunities for groups, youth, or individuals; however, 14-16 year olds must have parental consent.

    Volunteers can sort donations, move furniture, help with our vintage shop, help as a personal shopper, or deliver furniture, if they are able. They are an accessible space and are welcoming of all!

  • We are seeking volunteers who would be interested in horse leading, side walking with a rider, ground chores on outside trail and flower gardens, volunteer recruitment, and/or fundraising

  • Volunteers are needed to join committees, volunteer at the Museum for programs and special events, or lead classes, camps, or workshops. We also seeking Advisory Board Members.

    Volunteers should be a minimum of 13 years old. Volunteers over the age of 18 are required to obtain Child Abuse Clearances.

  • Direct Service Volunteers to provide assistance with hotline coverage and crisis counseling, 60-hour training is required before providing direct services. Non-Direct Service Volunteers to provide office assistance, maintenance, sorting donations, and helping with awareness events.

Union-Snyder Community Action Agency

VITA Free Tax Program

  • Get your Free IRS Certification through United Way’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Other benefits include learning how to complete your own taxes, building your resume experience, or fulfilling community service hours. Volunteers can be remote or in-person.

Transitions of PA

  • Looking for Direct Service Volunteers to provide counseling and other assistance directly to victims of crime. We are also looking for volunteers for administration, child care, and our SafePaws Program.

    Required: Direct Service Volunteers are required to complete 80 hours of mandatory training prior to working with clients.
